How do you show love? Do you just show it by saying it with your words? Or do you show it by the things you do?

This month in South Africa I have had the beautiful opportunity to be a part of something that is all about love! For manual labor ministry here, I have been able to help out in the building of a log home! However, it’s not just any log home-it is going to be a home for future missionary teams to stay and it has a wonderful story behind it!

This structure is being built in memory of Austin and Rebekah who were both missionaries and loved Jesus with all their heart! Rebekah was also a world racer and came here to South Africa during her trip with gap year.  During her time here, she met Austin who also was a missionary but with Global Leadership Academy’s Global Challenge journey! They quickly connected and fell in love, and became engaged to be married!  After getting engaged they quickly got married at a courthouse. The next day, they unfortunately were in a car accident that took both of their lives.

In the 3 weeks of my time here in South Africa-I have learned so many different things through the building of this log home!

I have learned how to use a sander, stain and varnish wood, put insulation in and more! More than any of that, I have learned what it means to show love thru who you are as a person, what you do, and how you treat others.

Myself and my team were welcomed into the building of this log home with open arms! All of the guys were so kind, caring, helpful and encouraging! They showed us how to do each job that we were given-with excellence! They intentionally took the time to get to know us and they  smiled, laughed and sang as they worked-which encouraged us to do so also!

To know the vision behind why this log home is being built-has helped to shape my perspective on manual labor and why we were doing what we were doing. As I mentioned in the beginning, this log home that is being built isn’t just any log home-it is being built with love, from love and on love. Austin and Rebekah loved Jesus, they loved others and they loved each other. Because this log home is being built in their memory as a place for future missionaries to stay, it is going to be a place of love, that is being built on love.

Be on the lookout on facebook and Instagram for photos of the log home! ????????
