Last week when we went out to evangelize for ministry in a different community- God showed up big time! When we arrived, we prayed and then split off in to groups like normal this time around- I decided to be in a group with different people then the first time we went out for evangelism just to switch it up a bit! I was in a group with Katie, Kelsey and our wonderful translator was Ben!
When we started out and began to walk, we came across a little store- (here they call them boutiques) and a lady was outside of it so we decided to go and talk to her. She was a very sweet older lady- we asked her questions about her life and she told us that she has had the store for many many years and that her house was on the same property as the store- she also told us about her family! We really enjoyed talking to her and we prayed for her before we left!
While we were talking to her Ben noticed a woman walking on the road and he went to talk with her, she ended up hanging out while we talked with the lady who owned the boutique- Her name was Shnyde!- after we left we asked her if she wanted to walk with us, so that we could talk to her more-she happily agreed! We began walking and talking with her and each of us asking her different questions about her life and if she knows Jesus. She said that she does go to church and she knows who God is but she said she doesn’t have a relationship with Jesus and even though she knows that we can come to God and Jesus just as we are, even if we are broken- he accepts us! She isn’t interested. She also asked us questions about being missionaries and what God has called us to do.
We continued to walk with her and she invited us to her families house, she lead us there but first she stopped at an area where people get water. She asked us if we could help her, of course we said yes!
She filled up 2 jugs and 1 bucket like container of water. We all took turns and helped her get the water thru some very muddy, wet terrain to get it to her families house.
When we finally made it there, she got chairs for us to sit in and we were able to meet her cousin- her name was Madam Desni. She was a super sweet lady and she wanted to know what we talked to Shnyde about. So we shared with her and asked her questions also! When we asked her she said that she does know God and has a relationship with Jesus- and she goes to church! We soon also found out that she just had a baby and Shnyde brought her out to us! I was able to hold this precious 17 day old baby! Katie was also lead to share the story about the 3 wise men and Baby Jesus with the family. We also got to talk with 2 other girls (possibly cousins of Shnyde) that were there when we were there, they were twins and had beautiful smiles!
We hung out with them some more and then we prayed for all of them- specifically for their family and for God to soften and open Shnyde’s heart tp accept Jesus.
I am going to continue to pray for her and her family!
Please feel free to be praying for her too!
Cimone- What great insight from a day. Love is a choice, and love is an action. Very glad you acted on it and wrote about it. We forget sometimes it is as simple as walking beside someone, listening to their story, and helping them to carry the water.
Thank you Andy!
Love is truly an action and I love showing it to people!
God is good!
