It’s hard to believe BUT I have been on the world race for 100 days as of 11/15/18! I am in Botswana for month 4 and wanted to share 100 glimpses of my journey thus far! Here you go!
1.Sharing the love of God isn’t just doable with words, it also bears fruit with Actions!
- Bucket showers aren’t really that bad! They are actually really refreshing if it’s a hot day, especially here in Botswana!
- Life will often test you, especially in challenging situations on the world race!
- Dehydration is a real thing, I unfortunately experienced it here in Botswana.
- Community is what you make of it!
- Feedback is a wonderful thing, even if it hurts a little.
- Encouragement keeps me moving forward.
- Debriefs are awesome!
- All squad month in month 1 in the Dominican Republic was one of my favorite months so far!
- I love love love when all of my squad comes together after going our seperate ways!
- It’s about the journey, not the destination!
- I have now been to the DR 2 times!
- Arepa’s (fried bread with onions) are the bees knees!!!
- Patience is something I possess but I have noticed myself struggle with it on the race a bit.
- Love is best shown, not just spoken.
- WiFi is a gift and treasure-not to be taken for granted!
- Life moves so so fast when you are so busy and doing lots!
- There are beautiful flowers in every country and some are very similar!
- The food is amazing food everywhere!
- Church in other languages is my favorite!
- The upper deck in the DR has been one of my most favorite places to worship, hang out and have quiet time!
- Teaching English at a school in the DR is one of the highlights of my race so far!
- Deimi’s tea is the BEST!
- Walking in the pouring rain to go get tea with 2 of my lovely squadmates/friends was a beautiful adventure!
- Sometimes you rub the wrong way with people, but you work it out.
- You can’t always drink the water!
- Being away from family and friends is HARD.
- God is always moving even when you can’t see what he is up to!
- Intentionality is very important to me, in life in general but especially in this season of the world race!
- Stay hydrated always!!!!
- Taking it easy is important, rest and time for yourself is important.
- WhatsApp is gold!
- Photos and videos are life!
- Movies are something my team 1010 fierce and I enjoy ALOT!
- Laughter is infectious!
- There is a beach in Haiti that reminded me of some of the beaches in Maui!
- Emotions and expressing them is important.
- One challenge or problem is not more important or less important then the other!
- Bug spray is nessesary!
- Exercising keeps you active and your body strong!
- Dance parties with the kids here in Botswana are life giving!
- Essential oils are essential!
- Love is the language that has no barrier!
- Card games brighten my days!
- Learning from my squad and team has been amazing!
- Children everywhere are beautiful and bring me so much joy!
- Sharing my story is very important!
- Languages are beautiful!
- Serving others brings me joy!
- Sunsets in other countries make my day and carry so much meaning for me!
- Seeing a rainbow at a beach in Haiti was such a cool thing!
- Deeply connecting with people is one of my favorite things to do!
- Trying candy in every country is so fun!
- So far, chocolate has been delicious in every country!
- Fasting is something I am continuing to learn about.
- I wore a sweater or jacket almost every day at some point of the day in South Africa!
- A cappuccino in a cone is such a fancy treat! (I loved it)
- Fans in hot countries are not to be taken for granted!
- Hot chocolate in the DR is extra yummy!
- Coffee on the race is a must!
- Faith and trust are things I will always hold on tight too, God is also still growing me and teaching me about them!
- God told me to take risks on the world race, so far I have taken 2 big ones!
- Vulnerability isn’t always easy but in the end it’s worth it!
- In Africa- they call fries “chips”
- Coffee/Tea is not super popular here in Botswana.
- I learned how to tune my ukulele last month (in month 3) thanks to my sweet team leader Claire!
- My team and team Gospel Girls sang in a choir last month with some of the guys that work on the log home!
- Washing your own clothes by hand is not only a workout-it helps you to make sure your clothes are clean!
- Fundraising is not always a walk in the park, but it’s more than worth it!
- Music is life!
- Worrying doesn’t do any good.
- Having cards/letters to open has been such a fun and uplifting thing!
- Skirts can be worn many different ways!
- Portable cell phone chargers save the days!
- Travel days are long!
- I love writing notes for people to uplift and encourage them!
- Journaling has become more than a daily practice but something I love doing!
- Devotionals on my bible app are great!
- Going thru an inner healing session in Haiti has been the beginning of healing for me in many areas of my life!
- Popcorn has become a favorite!
- I have ears! (I can hear things from far far away and I often know where people are if someone asks where they are)
- My laptop (might) be totally dead-but I am praying and hoping that it’s not!
- Roobios tea is a favorite!
- My squad truly reflects Jesus! Which is why I like to refer to it as the Jesus squad!
- My mom and sister Kanani are 2 of my biggest supporters and cheerleaders! I am so thankful for them!
- Our squad coaches brought us bags of Halloween candy at our month 1 debrief! It was seriously the best!
- I have seen cotton candy clouds (pink fluffy clouds) every month so far on the race!
- I absolutely love that many of my squad mates/team mates know my love for the cotton candy clouds and call for me if they see them!
- God has changed my prospective about manual labor to be his prospective!
- Friend dates and coffee dates are a big joy for my heart!
- Every month I have let go of something.
- Now, if I pick something new up-I also let go of something.
- Free tables are fun and also interesting!
- Traveling can take a toll on skin and hair-but it does something even bigger to the heart: it changes it, softens it, opens it and encourages it to grow!
- Wearing the same clothes all the time isn’t all that bad, especially if you have a system like me.
- Rusks are one of my new favorite snacks!
- Tingly hands are a sign of dehydration!
- Staying in contact with friends and family is a bright light that shines always!
- Home is not only the island of Maui but for this season of the race it’s each country I visit!
- Freedom, Freedom in Christ and just being free, are beautiful, sometimes messy things that I am learning, growing in and fully grasping in this season of the world race!
We buy several boxes at a time ha ha and condensed milk rusks are life lol.
