Here, There, Everywhere and Haiti!

Haiti, there are so many words to describe the journey that was set before me there. God showed me that just as much as he was going to do many works thru and around me, he was going to many things within me as well!

In Haiti I got to do a lot of one of my favorite types of ministry and that is children ministry! The children in Haiti are so precious, curious, joyful and loving! One of my favorite things about them was that they were always so excited for us to spend time with them! They loved hugs, hi fives and clapping games so much and I loved that they loved those things!

We often think that we are the ones to impact the lives of the people we meet-which is definetly true but at the same time the people we meet impact our lives as well more than they know! As we were ending our time in Haiti , I began to ask myself and ponder on who impacted me during the course of the month. Many names, faces and also experiences (which can also impact you) came to mind.

The children definetly impacted me, they reminded me that its ok to make mistakes- they are awesome with giving grace, and they don’t really notice if you make a mistake anyway! They usually would just laugh at me, or with me. (Insert big LOL) We also spent a lot of time with the elderly in the community and they had such excitement each time we came to spend time with them! They would be so eager to share stories with us, answer the questions we had for them and listen to the scriptures and stories we shared with them! The also sang worship songs in creole to us- It was so sweet! I loved it! They gave me so much joy and brought so much laughter to my days! I believe that they impacted my time in Haiti just as much or more then we impacted them!

The people that we worked alongside within the ministry we worked with- Supply and Multiply were such awesome examples of servants of the Lord and they had such giving and selfless hearts! They showed us by example how to serve and love each other and the people within the community. Many of them took time out of the regular schedule of their life to serve us, and alongside us. They also took time to get to know us and spend time with us outside of ministry time.

God grew me so much in Haiti, I learned that people can have many different opinions and thoughts on varying subjects but its up to us to form our own opinions  and thoughts. God and I worked thru so many things in Haiti,

things that were challenging, deep, and difficult to swallow at times. I was able to receive inner healing with focus on my relationship with my dad and that brought up other things that are pieces of my character and identity that need the loving and truthful hand of God to let go of, heal, change, grow, renew, restore and more!

Now I am on the path of healing those things, I am learning how to let go of the things that I have been holding on to- how to completely hand over the pieces of myself that I don’t nessesarily like about myself- the things that are holding me back and the parts of my personality that hold me back from knowing and walking in my true identity in Christ.
