Unwavering Grace: To be completely honest, as much as I was stoked for this new journey in Guatemala, I almost didn’t come. There were a handful of things that were going on prior to me leaving that had me questioning my decision, Gods plans for my life and ultimately my YES to this new season of my journey. However, despite all of that-God gave me grace every time I wavered and felt like throwing in the towel. Whether it was in regards to fundraising, the job I was working at that time and the challenges within that, or because of the situations I was facing within my personal life. God would use someone in my community of family and friends to speak life to me, and the challenges I was facing as well as encourage me and pray for me!

Fight or Flight: I once chose flight instead of fight many years ago and God turned that not so good choice into a flood of lessons and blessings. This time around I have chosen to fight and by that I mean fight against my desire to give up and throw in the towel on this opportunity God has given to me to come to Guatemala, live, serve, learn and be a part of the Hineni program here. I have decided to fight and follow thru not only with Gods yes to me, but also my yes to him, my faith, this new place, the Hineni program, building kingdom, and further pursuing my calling!

Renewing My Mind: Since arriving in Guatemala a little over a month ago, the enemy has really been attacking my mind, heart, and spirit but mostly my mind and thoughts. I think a big reason this has been happening is because I fought hard to come here and keep my yes to this new season a yes. The enemy didn’t want me to come but I didn’t give in to his tactics. So now that I am here, he is doing whatever he can to infiltrate Gods goodness and blessings. One thing that I have been reminded of is to constantly renew my mind in Gods word and the truth of who he says I am.

Romans 12:2

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

2 Timothy 1:7

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

?

These 2 scriptures are just a few that been helpful, as well as good reminders for me especially during this time.

A New Community: Upon coming here to Guatemala, I only actually knew one person-Leann who was one of my squad leaders from the world race. She is one of my favorite humans and I am so thankful that she is here! The rest of the people were all new. I felt a mixture of emotions entering this new place filled with new people, but I was mostly excited!

All off the staff here at Adventures in Missions Guatemala are wonderful! I am starting to get to know all of them more, little by little, day by day and they all have been so so good to me! I also have been blessed with a discipleship mentor: Sabrina-who is quickly becoming a good friend of mine. She is a treasure and we have many things in common including the same birthday! My teammates in the Hineni program are a good group of people too. Bryan and Cesar are local from here in Guatemala, Mary is from El Salvador and Sumer is from the USA like me. We are all getting to know each other, but we are becoming like family pretty quickly and for that I am thankful, grateful and blessed!

I faced many challenges before actually coming here to Guatemala and the fact that I am here is a a victory, a blessing, definitely a testimony and a major JUBILEE!

I am celebrating the fact that I followed thru with my yes and that I am fighting the enemy’s attacks with Gods truth, his love and a beautiful community surrounding me here. I am choosing to renew my mind each day in his word and truth of who he says I am!
